Satellite dishes fall into two categories, Cband and Ku band.
A Ku band dish is like the ones that Dishnetwork & Direct TV use and the ones that you see on banks, drugstore chains, and gas stations. Ku band dishes can only receive Ku band frequencies. The size of these dishes range from 18 inches to 1.8 meters.
Cband dishes are the bigger round ones made of mesh, fiberglass, or solid steel. The size of these dishes range from 6 feet to 32 feet. Some dishes move and track all the satellites visible from where it is installed, or are fixed pointing at one satellite. A Cband dish can receive both Cband and Ku Band signals. These dishes are used by homeowners, cable companies and satellite companies. It is by far the best quality and the way to receive all satellite TV from any satellite.
