Blind Scan: I have heard a lot of bragging on how fast the scans were. I wasn't overly impressed on how fast it was because it had the same speed as others on a few commercial satellites. If a satellite has only TV & radio transponders broadcast on it it seem to be faster but if you have a satellite that has a mixture of TV, radio, data, analog it will slow it down because it has to decipher it to sort out the MPEG-2 channels. Scans on Telstar 12 were average. 8 minutes for a fast scan & 20 minutes for a detailed scan. This unit also skipped some channels on T12 like the Fortec Ultra where you had to manually input the frequency for a channel you know is there.
Tuner Sensitivity: Sensitivity was not to impressive either, it was average and the same as the Fortec Ultra. The receiver did not keep a better lock on week transponders.
EPG: "Fastest EPG" that is what some of the dealers say. That would be nice but where are you going to use it ? The only EPG data that is being sent out is on the satellite channel Home School, and that is only maybe 2 hours worth, there is no other EPG data on any satellite not even on Globecast since you have to use there receivers only. Some half fast so called dealers try to sell me on the DVBHardware.com site bragging how fast the EPG is, but when I ask them what satellite has EPG data to use it all of a sudden have complete silence and dumbfounded for a response. Every FTA MPEG-2 satellite receiver in the USA can receive EPG data but there in no place to use it in the USA.
