Not all receivers are created equal, the list on the left will help you to determine your needs.
Also in the list are some older satellite receivers with some brief info on them in case you find an older model someone is selling. All reviewed models to the left are personally done by me unless it is a older model where I will accept info from people I personally talk with.
Many DVB boxes boast up to 5000 channels dozens of satellites pre programed in memory and faster channel switching with menu speeds boasting changes in tenths of a second.
The true fact is that probably 98 percent of all of the people using these receivers are sitting on one satellite and watching only a hand full of channels if not just one channel. If anybody can notice or need channel switching or menuing from a half of second to a quarter of a second should be working at NASA doing time studies.
Fast processors are needed, sensitivity, pal to NTSC conversion, how well the signal locks on when the satellite signal is weak do to rainfade or a low power satellite. A few other minor features are all that is needed unless you are a diehard satellite enthusiasts or an installer where some fancy extra features can make a box the best.
